Faculty & Staff

Faculty expertise in the department spans four continents and more than 1000 years of literary and cultural history, as well as a marked diversity in research methods, genres of scholarly activity, and means of production. Areas of research range from literary, rhetorical, and cultural criticism and the creation of new works of poetry, non-fiction, and fiction to empirical research into topics such as writing assessment, composition habits, and language learning.

Along with being excellent teachers, English faculty are active scholars, many of whom are recognized nationally and internationally as some of the best in their fields. In addition to maintaining a strong rate of publication, faculty in the department have over the past five years led an exponential growth in external grant activity.
