Welcome to Washington State University’s Department of English, one of the largest, most diverse, and vibrant humanities departments in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). With a presence in Pullman, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver, our combined sixty-four faculty members work in some of the most dynamic areas of literary studies, creative writing, rhetoric and composition, English education, and applied linguistics. Across our work, and together with our students, we read and think deeply, create and critique, and look to make a difference in the world we share.

We are also the administrative home of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, an interdisciplinary degree program that places gender and sexuality at the center of its work, preparing students to succeed in a world marked by intersecting and complex inequalities.
